More than 9,300 students, ranging in age from 17 to 70, attend Purdue Calumet's 16-building, 167-acre neighborhood campus and Academic Learning Center. Minority students, including more Hispanic enrollees than any other Indiana university or college, comprise some 31 percent of the total body.

Purdue Calumet also strategically advances positive change and economic growth within northwest Indiana through the establishment of such institutes and centers as the Water Institute and Center for Energy Efficiency and Reliability. The university also avails itself to the needs of business and industry through applied faculty research activities-some nationally prominent-and student internships. Additionally, Purdue Calumet partners with the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana and Hammond Business Incubator to help cultivate new jobs and employers.

Purdue Calumet became a residential campus in fall 2005 with the opening of a fully-furnished, apartment-style student housing facility.
