Electronic Security Technician, Per Mar Security Services

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to install and test electronic security systems including burglar and fire alarms, CCTV, Access Control systems and all related electronic security equipment in residential, commercial and industrial environments and to provide excellent customer service to our clients.

The starting wage for this position is based on level of experience. Technicians are able to achieve $24.00 per hour within 4 to 6 years based on individual drive and willingness to learn new tasks. It's Per Mar's priority to provide training and field experience to technicians to assist them in achieving their goals.

*Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Install and wire specified alarm system devices.Pull cable and hang devices.

  2. Test and verify that all systems and devices installed (alarm panels, sirens, horns, strobes, etc.) function properly and in accordance to manufacturer's specifications.

  3. Use multi meter for particular volts and ohm readings and circuit analysis.

  4. Use various hand and power tools such as drills and screwdriver for installation purposes.

  5. Strip wire without leaving bare openings.

  6. Conceal wire in residences and run wire as neat and inconspicuous as possible.

  7. Hook up RJ31X to specified panel mountings of particular devices such as motion detectors, keypads, and controls.

  8. Program alarm systems via programmer or keypad.

  9. Keep company vehicle clean and in good operating (i.e. handle periodic oil changes, fueling, washing of vehicle, etc.).

  10. Explain and demonstrate to the customer how the specific alarm system installed works.

  11. Complete proper paperwork and submit to the appropriate department on a daily basis.

  12. Communicate with clients, co-workers and Per Mar's Central Monitoring Station.

  13. All other reasonable duties as assigned by the Installation Supervisor specific to the operation of daily business functions.

Position Requirements:

Licenses/Certifications:

  1. Must be able to obtain specified licenses/certifications to perform work in the security industry according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the State in which the branch operates.

  2. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. High School Graduate or GED is required for all Per Mar Security Services positions. Technical or college degree in related field preferred.

  2. One to three months related experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  1. Must have knowledge of fire and electrical codes to ensure safe and proper installation of alarm systems and devices.

  2. Must have a personable and professional appearance.

  3. Must be able to travel, as needed.

  4. Must be familiar with various types of receivers.

  5. Strong customer service focus/skills a must.

  6. Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.

  7. Must be capable of handling challenging and stressful situations without decreasing productivity.

  8. Must have ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of the organization and with external customers.

  9. Must have mathematical skills including ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume along with ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  10. Must have reasoning skills including ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee will be required to carry and climb ladders, carry and pull spools of wire and hang equipment on walls. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
