Machine Operator - Fab

Extruded Solutions is Hydro's largest and most global business area. Our Business Area supplies aluminum profiles and profile-based solutions in various applications ranging from windows and furniture to cars and cruise ships. Within Extruded Solutions, we have business area staff functions based in Oslo, but we also have four core business units; Extrusion Europe, Extrusion North America, Building Systems and Precision Tubing.

Job Location: North Liberty, IN

 

Summary: This position accomplishes the organizational objectives by safely manufacturing, packaging, and shipping high quality products to our customers on time.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate various fabrication equipment i.e. mills, punch presses, deburring wheels, benders, saws, specialty machines, turning centers, milling centers and hand tools.
  • Inspect equipment daily to ensure proper safety devices are in place and notify supervisor or foreperson of any safety concerns.
  • Perform basic set-ups on equipment.
  • Read and interpret various gauging equipment, ranging from digital calipers, micrometers, protractors and custom gauges.
  • Visually inspect work piece before and after machining for defects.
  • Maintain all records on job assignments in a correct and timely manner, on paper as well as in the computer.
  • Maintain Q.C. checks on the operation in process.
  • Ensure that all scrap and waste material is disposed of properly.
  • Dispose of all waste/scrap materials in proper containers.
  • All other duties as directed by the department shift leader or manager.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of safety, quality and production processes
  • Organized / Self-starter
  • Adaptable to change
  • Work with limited supervision
  • Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required
     

Education and Work Requirements:

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Prior machinery experience preferred.
  • This is a union facility represented by UAW.
