Leidos's Office of Technology (OOT) has a collection of next generation cloud and managed services that are curated, enhanced and evolved at the speed of our partner CSP providers. This position will provide an opportunity to work directly with Leidos technical leaders and other senior cloud expertise across multiple CSP provider technology.
Job Description:
The Office of Technology (OOT) at Leidos has immediate openings for a senior cloud engineer to help us shape, develop, and deliver new capabilities or solutions leveraging state-of-the art technologies to our government customers and launch new and innovative products into across our vast customer landscape.
As the GCP Managed Services leader, you'll architect, design, build, and enhance highly available and scalable systems used by customers worldwide. You'll direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the capability development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. Additionally, you'll determine and recommend the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints. You'll mentor other software and cloud engineers and share your knowledge with the team and the organization to make us all better at what we do. You'll lead spikes and develop prototypes to help test product concepts and achieve customer validation. You'll contribute to the team's objectives by leading Kanban or sprint planning, daily scrums, product reviews, and retrospectives. You'll always respect the opinions of others, accept constructive criticism, share your views with a passion for improving the entire team's performance, and collaborate openly and positively with your teammates. Primary Responsibilities:
*Participate in the full capability development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parameters.
*Own the delivery of an entire system or application, and serve as a technical lead on medium to large, complex projects.
*Work closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
*Ensure team adheres to Agile processes and software engineering best practices.
*Build software solutions, on GCP, where the solution is not always well defined but always considers the customer first.
*Develop solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple area or disciplines.
*Implement solutions / services using GCP native and security services
*Communicate with internal team members across multiple areas and coordinate completion of key deliverables across teams.
*Liaise with external and internal customer stakeholders on technical design decisions and trade-offs and ensure software solution will meet required functional, performance, and SLA thresholds.
*Evaluate the selection and/or hiring of team members to ensure team has the right balance of skills and experience to implement the solution.
*Mentor other engineers in the art of building complex, web scale systems.
*Resolve roadblocks for the development team, working collaboratively with the Product Owner, technical leadership, and other engineers.
*Plan and estimate development tasks and work to improve performance metrics.
*Work with Google to define Go-To-Market solutions

Minimum Requirements:
*BS degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience.
*Experience delivering entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas.
*Experience serving as a technical lead managing large projects or processes.
*Deep understanding of software design patterns.
*Working knowledge of Agile Development and continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies and tools.
*Deep Understanding of the full suite of GCP Services with professional experience with most, work knowledge of all
*At least 2 professional GCP certifications, prefer more
*Familiarity with scripting languages (Shell, poweshell, JavaScript, Python (preferred))
*Experience with either Linux or Windows command line interface
*Understanding and professional experience with orchestration tools (Terraform, TerraGrunt, Ansible, Google Tools)
*Familiarity with common protocols including but not limited to: DNS, SMTP, HTTP(s), SFTP, SCP
*Experience working with basic web technologies (HTML, CSS, XML, REST, JSON)
*Experience working with a version control system (e.g., Git).
*Experience working with CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins)
*Experience working with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm)
*Experience working with Containerized applications and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Anthos)
*Experience with GCP's security stack and US Federal security frameworks (FedRAMP and NIST specifically)
*Self-starter and problem solver a must, cannot wait for deep direction.
*Ability to complete tasking independently with minimal direct supervision.
*Solid understanding of software development process fundamentals.
*Strong, self-motivated desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.
*Ability to work and collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplined engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
*Experience working with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).
*Experience working with NoSql databases (MongoDB, etc.).
*Experience working with Enterprise Service Bus Technologies (Kafka)
