Description

Leidos is seeking a highly motivated chemist to join the Intelligence Group. The position will provide analytical and logistic support for US Government clients requiring characterization of unknown samples. The position will require the use of a variety of techniques for the identification of unknown materials and impurities/degradants (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, DART-MS, Raman, FTIR, XRF, etc.). The chemist may also be responsible for instrument calibration and maintenance, data processing and review, and assisting with drafting monthly or final reports.

Primary Responsibilities

• Specific duties include the evaluation of pharmaceutical synthetic pathways to determine precursor and degradation products.
• Conduct research to learn new synthetic methods coming to market and assess their value to the customer program.
• Determine equipment needs for new production methods.
• Additionally support field test activities to support sensor library development, assess signal to noise for individual signatures, and determine quality of each detection.
• Significantly improve the ability to detect pharmaceutical signatures, increase the number of signature available for collection, and improve the quality of collection assessments.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires BS and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Basic Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in Chemistry or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience within field
• Experience in working on a customer site in the IC
• Experience in synthetic pharmaceutical chemistry, determination of chemical degradation products and rates, chemical precursors, and physical properties
• Strong communication skills
• Must possess TS/SCI with polygraph
