POsition SUmmary

In this position, you will be hands on in setting up, troubleshooting, and running machines to create our products. By interfacing with control panels or manually adjusting machine components, you will produce and ensure quality standards for a variety of parts. You will have the opportunity to develop advanced machining skillsets and machine a variety of material types. As an experienced machinist you will also have the opportunity to develop your skills on a variety of machine types to gain a deeper understanding of machinig methods. In this role you may establish and grow your machining career by working to resolve program, mechanical, and tool related concerns. You will also grow your soft-skills by assisting in continuous improvement initiatives as well as assisting in training incoming machinists.

Key role responsibilities

  • Set-up, troubleshoot, and operate machinery. Move materials (physically or with equipment) to machine materials according to specifications
  • Interface with machine(s) to make andvanced adjustments in settings, tools, or fixturing to ensure safe, efficient, and high quality production
  • Completes work based on specifications, drawings, job routings, and/or Work Instructions. Rarely needs assistance.
  • Utilizes gages and measuring equipment to ensure products meet specifications. Recognizes and reports gage and calibration issues
  • Maintains equipment and materials necessary to complete the operation. Recognizes and reports mechanical issues.
  • Meets and helps others to meet established safety, quality, performance standards to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Records accurate information on Manufacturing Order, Quality Check Sheets, and other paperwork. Performs transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balances.
  • Complies and encourages others to comply with all applicable safety procedures, quality specifications, and 5S Standards. Reports adverse conditions, non-conforming products/procedures, and 5S violations to department leader in accordance to escalation procedure.
  • Adheres to daily 5S standards as well as help to institute improvement initiatives. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • In accordance with escalation procedure, notifies team leader or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning safety, quality, equipment, operations, materials, inventory, documentation, etc.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by performing rotational assignments as needed. Understands multiple types of machines. Participates actively as a team member through continuous improvement activities to meet customer needs.

  • Graphite CNC
  • Machine Shop CNC
  • Advanced knowledge of many Machine Operator II jobs

qualifications and experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Recommended minimum 5 years Manufacturing or Machine Operation work experience.
  • Able to complete full process set-up (mechanical, tooling, fixturing)
  • Demonstrable mechanical aptitude and mathematical competencies
  • Possesses in depth knowledge of metal or graphite cutting processes
  • Has a mastery of inspection gages including; calipers, micrometers, thread gages, go / no-go gages, and others
  • Bend, squat down, twist and reach above your head
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Lift and carry at least 25 pounds
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced; multi-taksing environment and meet operational deadlines.
  • Self-Motivating and motivates others
  • Identify, escalate, and drive resolution of non-conforming process, product, or environmental issues
  • Ability to work with and help train others as a part of an agile and flexible workforce
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication
  • Detail-oriented
