As our Employee Relations Partner you will assist in resolving, coaching, and guiding managers through employee relations issues in partnership with the HR People Partner. The goal here is not to just resolve conflict but implement strategic changes to policies, procedures and practices to ensure the conflict and challenges don't continue or happen in the future.  This experienced individual contributor will also lead or participate in special projects and change management programs requiring employee relations or labour relations knowledge.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leads complex or highly specialized internal ER, HR, Labour, and EEO investigations.  In leading investigations, the successful candidate will coordinate the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data; lead interviews; make recommendations based on investigation findings; research key business issues; identify potential action steps; fully document and prepare reports on investigation findings; provide updates to HR and business leadership; and evaluate and recommend corrective action plans for substantiated allegations.  This individual will manage assigned casework, bringing investigations to closure rapidly and definitively. 
  • Ensures a proactive positive employee relations’ culture that sustains a direct relationship between the company and employees.
  • Conducts employee relations training and assistance activities for leadership and HR.    
  • Assists in resolving, coaching, and guiding managers through employee relations issues in partnership with the HR People Partner by working across employee relationships to moderate conflict and challenges that arise across individuals and teams.
  • Responds reactively on critical employee relations issues that can be crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time.  This may require travel with little to no notice for extended periods of time.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, criminal justice, political science with 5+ years of professional experience in or a combination of experience in the fields of: human resources, employee relations, investigations, corporate security, legal, or law enforcement OR
  • Master’s degree in business, human resources, criminal justice, political science with 3+ years of professional experience in or a combination of experience in the fields of: human resources, employee relations, investigations, corporate security, legal, or law enforcement OR
  • JD/PhD
  • In order to be considered for this role, you must be a US Citizen

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Highly proficient writing skills to generate clear reports, executive summaries, and white papers.  Intermediate to advanced skills in building and designing presentations and analysing complex data utilizing spreadsheets, pivot tables, macros, VBA etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to quickly gain trust working across organizational lines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all applicable federal and state employment & labour laws.
  • Experience in positive employee relations and maintaining a direct employment relationship between the company and employees at a site or number of sites over a period of months or years. 
  • Experience administering trade union agreements across different business models and unions.
  • Organizational agility and the ability to advise various levels of leadership without direct authority, exercising tact and diplomacy.
  • Ambitious and able to work independently, while also collaborating and communicating as an active member of distributed business and HR teams.
  • Expert proficiency in navigating successfully within ambiguity, multiple priorities, and a constantly changing environment.
