Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a passionate leader like you to drive the future of our business in the communities we serve. As a Market President, you are the top senior officer of the market management team, providing focused performance management of the market. You will lead, coach and develop the market management teams, commercial lending teams, and all team members. Working closely as a leadership team with the Market Senior Retail Officer and Regional Credit Officer, you provide guidance for the market's success. Establishing plans for growth and maintaining a high quality sales and service culture are important aspects of this role, as well as providing lending oversight and approval of commercial, consumer, and portfolio mortgages.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop Your Region - Business development is key in this role. You will provide sales management and leadership for the market, including the development and execution of annual business plans, budgets, and strategies. Strategies include, but are not limited to, a business calling/prospecting program and the development of the overall sales culture of the market. Relying upon a comprehensive knowledge of existing and prospective customers, as well as many meaningful relationships with community leaders and key business customers and prospects, you will identify goals, problems, opportunities, and develop solutions. With a focus on sales culture, you will lead and drive cross business sales efforts and activities, including the creation of a goal-oriented cross sales and referral environment. You also represent German American in the community, working toward community development and leadership through involvement in service, civic organizations, and community events and activities. You are involved with the Region's Advisory Board, driving ambassadorship, business development, and collaborating for general business counsel.
  • Oversee Operations - You oversee day-to-day operations, leadership and supervision of the commercial lending team. Your knowledge of commercial banking and organizational excellence intertwine, as you oversee the extension of credits for the market within established lending authorities and make recommendations for approval within the commercial loan operating system (nCino). You oversee and manage credit underwriting to ensure effective operations and compliance with bank policy and procedures and develop and implement individual training plans (sales, technical, compliance, etc.) for the commercial lending team. With a deep understanding of German American's loan policy, industry environment, and customer relationships, you act as a voting member of the Officer Loan Committee for your market.
  • Lead Your Team - You are a leader for the commercial team. You will provide performance results to management for evaluation and salary review. Consistent and real-time feedback to the commercial team members is essential, including conducting and documenting coaching sessions, annual performance evaluations, and salary reviews. Staffing, promotions, and terminations for all commercial staff are under your span of control, along with the recruitment and hiring efforts in the market. You will work to attract and retain top commercial performers with input from key internal partners.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ year's Commercial Lending experience
  • Ability to: provide superior customer service, analyze financial statements, understand loan documentation, create relationships and network with business contacts/influencers to develop referrals, assess and deliver sound credit decisions
  • Knowledge of: technical lending skills, commercial and retail sales management experience, thorough knowledge of financial products and services
  • Skills in: commercial loan portfolio growth, selling, negotiating, building relationships and cross selling, communicating effectively (written and verbally), maintaining confidentiality, motivating and coaching others, making decisions, thinking critically, solving complex problems and deescalating situations with team members or customers
