The University of Notre Dame () is accepting applications for a Senior Graphic Designer.

The Senior Graphic Designer leads the conceptualization and implementation of visual concepts as a member of the Print/Design team within the Office of Public Affairs and Communication's in-house agency, ND Creative. This staff member will create innovative, strategic visual identities and brand campaigns as well as drive adherence to University brand standards across an array of University communication outlets - from print to web/digital to video. S/he will be responsible for developing concepts that shape how internal and external audiences connect with Notre Dame while bringing the University's mission, values and goals to life. The ideal candidate for this role is a creative problem-solver who can define challenges, collect relevant information, draw insightful conclusions, and apply those learnings to develop marketing and graphic concepts that address clients' business objectives. S/he is expected to be a leader and provide design guidance to peers and developing designers. This role also requires effective client interaction skills, as the Senior Graphic Designer often creates and delivers compelling design proposals to senior leaders at the University.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for leading visual communication projects in accordance with the overall mission and goals of the university, division, and department. Contribute to the development of and help drive design strategy in support of university brand objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers (web, internal communications, brand content, and embedded marketing teams across campus) to develop integrated marketing communications/creative that engage the target audience.
  • Understand, and work within the Office of Public Affairs and Communications to protect and strengthen the Notre Dame brand in all design work produced. Work with the director of design and brand identity to craft and evolve the brand, as necessary.
  • Mentor and advise junior team members and other university creatives on design best practices, as well as departmental processes. Partner with design director to identify business challenges as well as potential solutions.

This is a hybrid position working Tuesday's and Thursday's remote with other days in office.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 to 6 years experience
  • BA or BFA in Graphic Design
  • Creative talent in concept and execution of marketing communication materials, primarily for Print, but can expand to digital applications. Well versed in Adobe CS software, typography, and photography. Teaching and speaking skills to articulate concepts and solutions.
  • Expected to both work independently and collaboratively. Manage multiple projects, from those small in scale to much larger multipart campaigns.
