What you'll do

As the Engineering Supervisor for (A Shyft Group Brand) based at our manufacturing facility in Bristol, IN, you will be a critical member of our engineering management team and you will be accountable for developing and managing the execution of engineering workflows and owning its success from cradle to grave.

You will also be expected to guide and direct a team of highly skilled engineers and associates who are motivated to deliver the most well-designed and reliable fleet vehicles and vehicle upfit solutions in the industry. You will have several direct reports and oversee others indirectly in conjunction with their functional managers.

In addition, you will enjoy spending time defining product line requirements, goals, scope, tasks, and timelines, and creating design solutions that utilize commonality.

You will also:

  • Shape the strategic direction of engineering activities for Utilimaster's Upfit
  • Deliver engineering solutions and revisions to other teams within The Shyft Group
  • Spearhead design solutions that exceed customer expectations
  • Cultivate a team mindset of outstanding responsiveness and impeccable quality and service
  • Organize, direct, and assign projects to engineers and designers
  • Sharpen our competitive edge by guiding the development of robust design standards
  • Oversee cost-cutting and complexity reduction initiatives
  • Supervise engineering design reviews and facilitate cross-functional communications
  • Offer your technical expertise to colleagues within Customer Service, Warranty, and Quality
  • Serve as the ambassador for Utilimaster Engineering during customer site visits and pilot reviews

What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Five or more (5+) years of new product development expertise
  • Three or more (3+) years of experience with engineering project management
  • A robust understanding of working within a design environment
  • Working knowledge of SOLIDWORKS
  • Proficient in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), FMEA, and FEA
  • Versed in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
