Description:
Camp Red Cedar boasts 57 acres of woods, meadows, trails, a 10-acre lake and sandy beach. Each year the camp serves hundreds of children and adults through inclusive summer camps, recreational therapy and riding programs, and community events.
Join us on the next summer adventure at Camp Red Cedar! Seeking individuals to attend pre-camp training and assist with Waterfront Coordination with beach in-service training of staff.
Seasonal Full-time Schedule: May 20th - August 16th, weekdays
Pay: $400/week
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow and enforce all swimming area rules and policies in a positive manner.
  • Ensure that the gates to the swimming area are closed during beach activities.
  • Complete and submit swimming sheets to the Field Supervisor for each camper.
  • Assume responsibility for, and plan for, group and individual swimming lessons as directed.
  • Perform lifeguarding duties as assigned for swimming and boat area during morning and afternoon free times, lake parties, and special events and activities as scheduled.
  • Deal with emergency situations with dispatch and management plan in a professional, calm manner.
  • Facilitate organization of buddy checks every 15 minutes.
  • Act in a supervisory capacity at the swimming area over all other counselors, volunteers, and campers.
  • Assist with waterfront area maintenance and provide care to lifeguarding equipment. Complete maintenance reports as needed.
  • Assist with beach games, relays, races, etc.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • Be familiar with all emergency procedures and participate in monthly drills.
  • Comply with all safety standards and policies adopted by this agency to assure the health and safety of all staff and clients we serve
  • Report any behavior incidents to your supervisor through written and verbal communication.
  • Be aware of and submit reportable incidents within required timeframes including:
    • accidents, any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately to the supervisor or department head.
  • Be a good example for all campers.
  • Good attendance while employed with Camp Red Cedar.
  • 18.Maintain proper storage of supplies.
  • Keep activity areas safe and clean
  • Attend all training sessions and facility improvement days.
  • Report any reasonable suspicion of a crime against an ICF/MR resident must be reported to Indiana State Department of Health and Law Enforcement (Elder Justice Act).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current Lifeguard certificate
  • WSI preferred
  • Valid driver license
  • Work permit needed if under 18 years of age
