Position: Production Worker

Location: Akron, IN

Rate: $19.84/hr

Shift: 1st 7am-3pm or 3rd 11pm-7am

Shift Differential Rates -

  • 3rd Shift - 40

The essential functions include:

  • Having the ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot problems and situations
  • Making incremental process adjustments, monitor and report quality of manufactured product.
  • Consistently loading tubes on carts/racks
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager.
  • Performing all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies.
  • Helping out other departments as needed
  • We expect you to be Sonoco mission driven
  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred
  • To succeed in this role you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
  • You will need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.
  • You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.

  • Ability to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stand, stoop and grasp.
  • Ability to manipulate small parts on a consistent basis.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as needed.

Work Environment:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in a production environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.
