Site Manager - Valparaiso

Our Valparaiso, IN site which specializes in High-Purity Iron Oxide Pigments is seeking aSite Managerto provide leadership, direction, and focus for all operational activities at the site. This includes leadership for a broad range of activities including EHSS, Production, Quality, Controlling, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Logistics, Site Services, and Talent. In addition, the position ensures that all processes and activities comply withSun Chemicalpolicies, regulations and our values for safety, quality, environmental and financial stewardship. The Site Manager is a member of the Color Materials North America Operations Leadership Team and interacts with global functions to fulfill the mission of the business and the site, ensuring customer satisfaction, and achieving operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Valparaiso site team to excellence in EHS performance, and manufacturing capability, to meetcustomer expectations in quality, service, and delivery with the results of businessgrowth and increasedcash generation.
  • Drive a culture where continuous improvement, breakthrough performance, employee engagement, and an enjoyable work environment are expectations of all team members.
  • Identify and manage all operational risks including EHS, regulatory, quality, cost, equipment optimization and reliability. The site falls under OSHA PSM.
  • Develop and implement budget, objectives, personnel plans, inventory management, and capital plans that align with the strategic objectives of the global strategic business units that are supplied by the Valparaiso site.
  • Develop and implement long-term manufacturing and asset strategies to ensure assets are aligned with global business strategy, as well as provide for reliable and flexible product availability while maximizing asset utilization.
  • RepresentSun Chemicalin community outreach, governmental relations with state and local authorities.
  • Foster a work environment based onSun Chemical values, promote diversity of perspectives, and create a high-performance team across the organization resulting in strong employee satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline required (Engineering preferred). Master's degree in any discipline is a strong plus.
  • Ten (10) years or more of demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing, including a variety of managerial positions, preferably in chemical industry, required.
  • Plant Manager experience required, and Site Manager experience preferred.
  • Experience in successfully managing both union and non-union relationship is preferred, with demonstrated ability to positively manage employee relation issues, improve site culture through employee engagement, and optimize organizational design.
  • Demonstrated track-record of manufacturing achievement in the critical success areas of EHSS (including OSHA PSM), cost reduction, quality improvement, cycle time reduction, asset optimization, large capital project management, and application of leading edge methods and technologies
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills with ability to analyze complex technical, operational and financial data and develop effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence people at all levels in the organization, customers, suppliers and other external contacts that allows for achievement of substantial results through others.
  • Keen ability to focus employees at all levels to recognize the "right thing to do" and empower them to act decisively within their ability and area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build strong teams, coach, influence and guide employees, and the ability to recognize and develop talent throughout the organization.
  • Proven track record for creating continuous improvements in the culture, facilities, and technology at a manufacturing site.
