Pay Rate: $17.31/ hour + Shift Differential (Non-Negotiable)

Shift: Mon-Friday from 8am - 430 pm with a minimum 2-day per week rotation in the office (APPLICANTS MUST LIVE IN THE CHARLOTTE NC AREA)

Job Description Summary

Receive and process physician orders for autologous and directed donations, as well as therapeutic phlebotomy to ensure high quality patient service and availability of products.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, Safety Quality Identity Potency Purity (SQUIPP), regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other applicable Federal, state and local regulations.


Job Description Responsibilities:

1.Comply with applicable Federal, State and local regulations as well as all American Red Cross policies, procedures and guidelines.

2.Screen incoming calls and provide telephone coverage for the work area. Provide detailed information to patients or other callers who request autologous and/or directed blood donations and keep accurate records of all such inquiries. Provide education about products, shelf life and donation requirements (timing of donations, financial arrangements, etc.).

3.Prepares and ensures the proper distribution of donor and patient autologous/directed donor packets.

4.Arranges payment for service fees if necessary suggests alternative methods for payments for the specific programs.

5.Accept hard copy, fax or phone orders from physicians for autologous, directed and therapeutic phlebotomy donations. Triage requests to ensure the scheduling activities are performed in accordance with patient need dates.

6.Contact the patient and administer the pre-scheduling health history screening. Maintain knowledge of blood products and corresponding expiration dates, special attributes, e.g., irradiation. Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures and drug terminology. Refer questionable histories to the supervisor.

7.Coordinate and obtain medical clearance for autologous donors as needed.

8.Schedule the patient following established scheduling guidelines. Coordinate blood freeze orders with the reference laboratory. Refer any scheduling problems to the office supervisor for resolution.

9.Provide excellent customer service. All departmental interactions must be timely, courteous, accurate and caring.

10.Contact physicians' offices, transfusion service personnel, other regions, etc., to provide information on deferrals, changes in orders, etc. Ensure all affected parties are notified in a timely manner.

11.Perform various administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

12.Maintain records as required using CGMP documentation.

14.Perform other related duties as necessary.

Scope
Balance production, customer service and compliance on a daily basis, ensuring integrity of product and optimum donor experience. As an integral link between donors and ARCBS, portray a commitment to customer service by conveying and demonstrating a consistent style of professionalism.

RN/LPN, medical assistant training or equivalent experience preferred, with current state licensure as required. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum one year of documented satisfactory performance in Collections Technician II position or equivalent experience is highly desirable. PC skills required. Excellent verbal communication skills required. Ability to interact with difficult patients, physician office personnel, etc. Excellent customer service skills essential. Excellent organizational skills required.
