Overview

Front Office Receptionist

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is seeking a new Front Office Receptionist for their main clinical location. As one of the administrative positions at our clinic, this person acts as the front line of patient care. You would be greeting and assisting incoming patients, handling last minute scheduling, and liaise between patients and clinical staff. The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $18.00-$28.13. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Employment Type: 1.0 FTE (40 hr/week)

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors to the clinic in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. Checks in patients and informs clinical staff of patient arrival.
  • Provides and explains paperwork for the patient to complete prior to examination. Collects, proofs for completeness, and files patient forms. Updates demographics and insurance information in the system. Collects co-pays and balances; provides receipt.
  • Answers, screens, and responds to routine questions, routes to appropriate personnel, or take thorough messages. Pages clinic personnel as appropriate. Communicates messages in an accurate and timely manner according to procedures.
  • Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner. Maintains a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies required for daily activities.
  • Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regards to patient's records.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned. May type memos and forms


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Some receptionist or office experience preferred (1-3 years minimum).
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft (Outlook, Office Word, and Excel) required.
  • Demonstrates Adaptability: Handles day to day work challenges confidently; is willing and able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities; demonstrates flexibility

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
