Position Purpose:

This position plays an integral part in creating meaningful and insightful data analytics used in executive decision-making at Stericycle. By utilizing various techniques such as statistical analysis and data mining along with tools such as SAP, SQL, Alteryx and Tableau, this role supports developing the solutions and recommendations for the Operations and Engineering programs. The Senior Operations Data Analyst is a proactive, analytical individual contributor responsible for developing interactive and actionable dashboards, analyses, and reporting. Based on the business needs, the incumbent will be assigned to a functional area to provide data analysis and support. This position is hybrid to Bannockburn, IL.

Key Job Activities:
  • Use advanced data tools to prepare recommendations and provide solutions to functional leaders based on the analytical trends and results found in the data
  • Conduct data mining and analysis for ad hoc projects by leveraging exploratory data analysis and data visualization. Supports the design and maintenance of data and business intelligence applications and platforms that are internally created
  • Develop and enhance dashboards and visualization applications that transform large, complex data into meaningful insights that management can use to produce informed business decisions
  • Effectively communicate findings and complex analytical solutions to various levels of management from supervisors to executives
  • Perform rigorous quality assurance steps to deliver highly accurate and reliable work products
  • Incorporate on-going feedback from stakeholders into existing dashboards and analyses
  • Understand and utilize available tools to solve evolving business problemsincluding use of SharePoint
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Education:
Preferred Education: in Bachelors or Equivalent
Experience (North America):
  • Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Operations Research) or the equivalent in related work experience
  • Four to Ten years of recent experience as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Developer, or a related analytical role, using advanced data tools
  • Proven experience performing basic analysis and data manipulation and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience in dashboard development and data visualizations using a data visualization platform (i.e. Tableau, Spotfire, Qlik Sense, SAP Cloud Analytics, etc.)
  • Minimum of three years of experience and knowledge building reports within a standard reporting application (i.e. SAP Business Objects, Cognos BI, SQL Reporting Services, etc.) and in creating ad hoc data marts for analysis using ETL tool (i.e. SQL, Alteryx, SSIS, etc.)
  • Experience with (understand and develop queries) SQL, SAP Hana Enterprise and relational databases
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable using other Microsoft Office products
  • Willingness to expand upon known technical skills and continually develop/learn new technical skills in support of new tools/methods
  • Ability to work independently and manage several simultaneous projects with a focus on results
  • Experience in service and/or healthcare related business preferred, but not required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
