Summary/Objective:

The CNC Programmer will write CNC programs parts and assist other machinists with creating and modifying CNC programs. The CNC Programmer will also utilize CAD/CAM to download 3D models to CNC machines. He/she will also be responsible for molding tooling design and fabrication using 3D modeling software. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment and adheres to our Quality Standards.

Essential Functions

  1. Follow all company rules, Quality standards and Safety policies (OSHA).
  2. Ensure production schedule completion and facilitate quality paperwork.
  3. Understand 2D and 3D drawings and create CNC programs complex new parts as needed.
  4. Create and maintain setup/instruction sheets for all programs.
  5. Develop and assist with the design of fixtures.
  6. Design, modify and repair rubber molding tooling. Machine new or repair rubber molding tooling.
  7. Document new designs in Solidworks.
  8. Review CNC programs, inserts and tooling to minimize machining cycle times and reduce tooling costs.
  9. Assist with part quoting estimates.
  10. Manage all insert and tooling inventory. Recommend and specify insert tooling.
  11. Complete special assignments as requested.
  12. Follow all safety rules.
  13. Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
  14. Reads and interprets blueprints
  15. Properly and safely loads and unloads castings and raw materials in CNC machinery
  16. Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
  17. Ability to setup, program, operate and troubleshoot CNC lathes and mills without assistance. Must be self sufficient.
  18. Ability to reduce setup time and machining through process improvements
  19. Must be proficient with FANUC controls
  20. Understands, interprets and edits FANUC G-code programming
  21. Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling
  22. Understands and has the ability to perform tool wear offsets
  23. Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
  24. Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment
  25. Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department
  26. Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures
  27. Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
  28. Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management
  29. Attends scheduled meetings and actively participates by providing meaningful input
  30. Is flexible with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant
  31. Communicates honestly, professionally and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be load.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours of work and days are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.

Travel

There is no travel expected for this position

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school.
  2. Five years related experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. A minimum of 10 years in a professional machine shop workplace.
  4. Working knowledge of Mazatrol, HAAS and G-Code programming.
  5. Working knowledge of MasterCAM or similar CAD/CAM software.
  6. Knowledgeable with designing in Solidworks.
  7. Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings.
  8. Experience using calipers, micrometers, bore gages and other machine shop measuring instruments.
  9. Familiar with computers and computer technology.
  10. Creative, out-of-the box thinker.
  11. Strong technical aptitude. Have the ability to visualize fabrication steps and think through a complete manufacturing process.
  12. Must be able to communicate effectively with other employees to explain ideas and concepts.
  13. Organized. Able to maintain a clean an orderly work area.
  14. Drives at root cause to solve problems.
  15. Team player.
  16. Must read, write and speak English.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Two years or more of related experience

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
